SITUATION VACANT

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following vacant technical posts in the Directorate General Port & Shipping Wing Karachi Jobs 2025, including the Mercantile Marine Department, Karachi. The appointments shall be made on a contract basis under the MP Scale Policy 2020 for a period of three years, extendable for a maximum of two (02) years on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory performance as evaluated by the Performance Evaluation Committee.

Vacant Positions:

1. Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department, Karachi
   Pay Scale: MP-II | No. of Posts: 01
   Required Qualification and Experience:

• Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign-Going Ship.
• At least three years in command of ships, or two years for candidates with an Extra Master Certificate or B.Sc. in Technology (Maritime Studies).
• At least three years’ experience as a nautical surveyor (or equivalent) in a mercantile marine department or as a surveyor in a recognized classification society.
• Preferably at least two years’ experience as Examiner of Masters and Mates.

2. Chief Engineer & Ship Surveyor, DG (Ports & Shipping Wing), Karachi
   Pay Scale: MP-II | No. of Posts: 01
   Required Qualification and Experience:

• Certificate of Competency as First Class Engineer (Combined or Motor).
• At least three years as chief engineer on ships not less than 373 BHP, or two years for candidates with an Extra First Class Engineer’s Certificate.
• At least three years’ experience as an engineer and ship surveyor (or equivalent) in a mercantile marine department.
• Preferably at least two years’ experience as an Examiner of Marine Engineers.

3. Engineer & Ship Surveyor, Mercantile Marine Department, Karachi
   Pay Scale: MP-III | No. of Posts: 02
   Required Qualification and Experience:

• Certificate of Competency as First Class Engineer (Combined or Motor).
• At least two years as chief engineer of a ship not less than 373 BHP, or one year for candidates with an Extra First Class Engineer’s Certificate.
• Preferably experience in relevant engineering survey and examination roles.
